Cognitive Hypnotherapy is a modern approach to therapy using a mix of effective therapeutic influences including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Positive Psychology, Hypnotherapy and Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP). It is a safe and client-based approach and there are no 'swinging pocket watches' or "look into my eyes' methods. It is just a conversation between us, and as you only need to be in a light trance you are in control all the time. Most clients say they feel a deep state of relaxation helping them to feel calm and safe.
Cognitive Hypnotherapy utilises the natural trance states that we are all in every day, without realising it. Trance is when you daydream in a boring meeting, or when you realise you have been driving home lost in your own thoughts, and have been unconsciously driving safely, changing gear and stopping at traffic lights. Studies suggest that approximately 90% of our behaviour is unconscious. So it makes sense that if we want to affect change in our lives, the best place to do this is in our unconscious mind.
